The Edmonton Jewish Cemetery is almost directly across the street from the building where I work. I took a picture of it (actually several) from our parking lot the other day when we had our first major snow storm of the winter. A pastel painting was the next logical step.
The picture was taken about noon in the middle of a snow storm and was very white! This painting is severely muted and looks more like an evening or night scene. I think I like it better this way.

It is such a timeless winter scene. You have captured not only the scenery but the sense of the winter street and the quiet of an evening snowfall.
I love this. The pastels you use bring an ethereal quality to this painting and I can almost feel the chilly air in this scene. I also like the lone figure on the left, who naturally attracts the viewer’s attention. He/she appears to be in contemplation — maybe about the mysteries of life?
