This is the third and final pastel painting in this part of my series on the David Thompson Highway. After this one, the road turns onto the Columbia Icefields Parkway on the way to Jasper. The series will continue along that highway (aka the Banff-Jasper Highway).
We might not get the fabulous “fall colours” of the eastern provinces and states here in Alberta, but we do get some glorious yellows and golds and the occasional flame burst of red. I wouldn’t trade an autumn drive into the Rockies like this for anything. Approaching the mountains is new and achingly beautiful every time and in every season.
