Autumn ended here in the third week of October.
November saw 18″ of snow fall (it’s all still here) and it’s been snowing since December began. We’ve already seen temperatures in the -20s C, and are expecting more in the next few days (today’s high was -16 C).
For much of the Northern Hemisphere, it’s still autumn. But we’re just too far north for Fall to be a 3-month season. (Same for spring and summer). Three of the four seasons are packed into half the year. The other 6 months, it’s all Winter.
Because of that, we know how to appreciate the few weeks we have to experience Autumn and Spring, and our glorious two months of Summer.
Jackie Parker Park is not far from my house, and it’s a joy to see it in the different seasons. We’ve walked there in all of them (but not often enough!). This painting is from a photo I took on our last walk there, in mid October of this year. Not long before the snow came.
Thank you Robin!
I love the sky in this. It holds the promise of winter’s arrival with a hint of summer’s departure in the band of colour from the sunset. I can almost hear the dry rattle of the leaves in the shrubberies as they rub against each other. Lovely evocative painting Lorraine.
