Thank you for visiting Heart and Soul – A Pastel Artist’s Journey! My artistic journey, like life itself, is a work in progress, and I hope you enjoy your visit as much as I am enjoying the journey.
I appreciate all feedback, so please feel free to comment and if you are interested in finding out more about my work, or would like to contact me about commission work, please contact me here.
A little bit about me and my art:
The Impressionists, in particular Renoir, were my first inspiration in my youth and are still my favourite artists, along with the Post-Impressionists. I think I fell in love with Renoir when I was about 12, when I first saw his Girl in a Straw Hat. I felt his love for the people in his life in the way he portrayed them.
I studied at the U of A’s Faculty of Extension Fine Arts program, with a focus on the drawing stream (I love drawing with graphite and charcoal). I have worked with watercolours and acrylics, played with oil paints and have taken pastel workshops with David Shkolny in Edmonton through the Paint Spot. Discovering soft (dry) pastels was an epiphany of sorts for me after experimenting with other art media. They are the perfect cross-over between drawing and painting!
I am a member of the Millwoods Artists Collective and the Pastel Artists of Canada (PAC).
Thanks again for stopping by!
Cheers,
Lorraine
